Calling All Young Writers: The 7th Annual Awesome Young Authors’ Awards Book Contest Opens July 1–31, 2026

Every young author has a story worth celebrating. Whether their book began as a dream, a school project, a family goal, or a personal passion, the courage to write and publish deserves recognition.
The 7th Annual Awesome Young Authors’ Awards & Community Book Contest is returning in 2026, and submissions will be open from July 1–31, 2026.
This year’s contest is open to young authors ages 5 to 20 years old in the United States and Canada. To qualify, the submitted book must be a published book with an ISBN. This helps celebrate young writers who have taken the exciting step of becoming published authors.
New this year, we are also introducing a special category for young authors who published a book with the support of a parent or guardian. This category recognizes the teamwork, encouragement, and family support that often helps young writers bring their books to life.
Parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, mentors, and community leaders are encouraged to help young authors prepare their submissions, review their book details, and celebrate this major accomplishment.

This guide includes contest quick facts, a 4-week prep timeline, story reflection prompts, a parent and caregiver checklist, and questions to help young authors talk about their published work with confidence.
